SUMMARY:Newborns & Neighbors: Community-Driven Perinatal Peer & Mental Health Support
DESCRIPTION:Newborns & Neighbors is a community-driven perinatal peer support program housed in the Drexel Dornsife School of Public Health\, in partnership with Blossom Health & Wellness. In this seminar we will discuss the history\, origin\, and collaborative evolution of Newborns & Neighbors. We will describe our participatory approach\, emphasis on a sustainable ecosystem of peer support\, our “full circle” career pathway/workforce development\, and culturally-responsive mental health support for Black and Latine pregnant/birthing people and families. Funding for this effort was provided by the Drexel University Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health. The Center is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under grant number T76MC54774‐01‐00.
